General James “Mad Dog” Mattis has more experience fighting bad guys than most military commanders have all together. Making this no-nonsense, terrorist-exterminating machine our Secretary of Defense is absolutely and amazing turn of the tables.
President-elect Donald Trump has tapped retired Marine Corps General James Mattis to serve as Secretary of Defense, according to reports. The Washington Post was the first to report on the decision and cited “people familiar with the decision”.
Current federal law states that Defense Secretaries must not have been on active duty in the previous seven years, and congress will have to pass new legislation to make way for Mattis.
The 66-year old Mattis brings with him a wealth of experience having served as commander of United States Central Command from August of 2010 to March of 2013, replacing General David Petraeus.
Under Mattis’ command, we’ll probably make more progress against ISIS and Al Qaeda in the first week than Obama has in 8 entire years.
